This presentation has been written for 11 - 14 year old pupils of all abilities, though it is also suitable for older pupils, especially those of lower ability. It is of particular benefit to the large number of pupils who are visual learners, and contributes well to a multi-sensory approach to learning. Experience has shown that pupils' understanding and test results have greatly improved as a result of its use.
The presentation provides an excellent introduction to new ideas and a visual explanation of difficult concepts; it also provides a tool for revision at any time in the course. It is designed to be very flexible, with each topic being a complete unit in itself. The pace of delivery can be controlled to suit the ability and interest of the pupils in each group, with as many or as few slides being used at any one time as necessary.
'Particle Theory' contains over 350 slides; it is fully hyperlinked and is suitable for classroom use (with or without interactive whiteboard) or individual study. There are six main topics (with 29 sub-topics, many using examples relevant to pupils' experiences), as well as summary and question sheets. A series of activities, complimented by photocopiable worksheets, give a range of engaging lesson openers, plenaries and homework tasks. A number of the sub-topics make use of mapped graphics - these sequences appear twice, once with text and once without to allow greater variety of approach in teaching styles. Most of the graphics used are included as simple bitmap files for unlimited use on worksheets within the purchasing establishment.
This PowerPoint presentation is designed to be used ideally with the Microsoft Office 2002 XP version of PowerPoint. Earlier versions of Microsoft Office do not support the animated graphics sequences. A version suitable for Microsoft Office 2000 has been included.
Once purchased, this CD can be freely copied and networked throughout the school.
