Literacy Games Pack 2 - Group Words Card Games

A resource pack for creating card games using word families and collective nouns to encourage learning, recall, spelling and useage. There are nine sets of word family cards such as mother, father, son and daughter and eighteen animal families such as cattle, bull, cow and calf. These can be used separately to learn vocabulary, spelling, usage and association or mixed to test understanding. The group words consist of pairs of 154 collective nouns and their subjects such as 'A colony of' and 'ants'. These are split into four main sets of creatures, objects, people and birds. A fifth set contains common alternatives to some of the collective nouns in the four sets. The complete resource consists of forty-four black and white A4 masters. Full instructions are included for making up packs of cards and for playing a number of games with the cards. The specially designed Sassoon font is used throughout to support and link to handwriting development for younger pupils and to maintain clarity.
