These two packs provide visually supported words for developing readers 7-14, and Special Needs pupils, to support them in the acquisition of words which they find difficult to spell or learn, or which are often incorrectly spelt or whose meanings are often confused or unknown.

The sheets can be used as an aid to memory, to look at different pronunciations of words, which have the same spelling, to extend vocabulary, and to help learn spellings. They are an ideal yet simple classroom display resource and can also be used to tempt reluctant readers to make their own visuals, in a fun and challenging way, to help them remember and learn all about homophones and homographs. With clear links to basic skills and the National Strategies for Literacy and Teaching and Learning, these materials are a useful resource. They provide an additional approach to supporting young people who have not yet enjoyed success in mastering spelling and reading and who may need support with memory strategies.
