This resource has been developed to help teachers deliver topics from the new (from September 2011) AQA GCSE Physics specification. Its content will also be relevant to topics in the new GCSE specifications for other examination boards such as Edexcel and OCR.
The resource takes the form of a series of 5 PowerPoint presentations (57 slides) aimed at facilitating the teaching of the various topics in Light itemised in the specification.
The subject matter of each presentation is:
Reflection Reflection in a plane mirror
Lenses Refraction and its use in lenses
Images in Lenses Convex and concave lenses
The Eye Its structure, defects and their correction, the camera
Other Applications of Light Critical angle, Total internal reflection, optical Fibres – the Endoscope, the Laser
The 57 slides use many PowerPoint facilities to explain the topics in a clear and consistent manner. Each presentation starts with a title slide followed by the learning objectives for the presentation. There follows a step-by-step method of delivery for the concepts involved. Topics can be introduced at a pace consistent with the ability of any particular group of learners.
In addition to using the resource in the classroom, it can be placed on a school or college computer network. This series of presentations forms part of a planned library of resources for GCSE Physics.
Once purchased, the CD-ROM can be freely copied and networked throughout the school.
