Classroom Resources acts as Educational Consultants for a number of clients, providing educational resources to support various initiatives. Classroom Resources teacher authors are commissioned to write support material which is then delivered into schools. The most recent
are:

Upgrading the Upgrade Resource

Transport for London were also the client for a recent commission related to updating resources called 'Upgrade': a series of lessons designed for use with Years 6 and 7 pupils which can be used as 'standalone' items or be part of a transition project between primary and secondary schools. Themed around dealing with transition and change, signs and understanding the new resource will cover elements of road safety and safe travel as well as look at a range of cross-curriculum skills tied to surveying people's habits, discussing concerns and awareness of safe, healthy and sustainable solutions to challenges we face.
Classroom Resources have been working with London teachers and curriculum experts to look at ways to ensure that the resource uses some new technologies and is highly flexible at a time of curriculum change. PowerPoint presentations form the basis of the downloadable resource and ten themed lessons, with teachers notes providing as a single document, making the resource easy for teachers to use and 'upgrading the upgrade'. This resource will 'go live' later this year.

Busology

Classroom Resources has recently been working with Transport of London, the Haringey Council and teachers as part of their important Busology Project, where young Londoners from a Haringey school have been looking at the way young people use, are treated on, and behave on buses, and their interactioj with the wider public and bus staff.
The Busololgy Pack is a creative response to intergenerational misunderstandings and perennial complaints about one group not understanding or respecting another. Central to the Busology campaign is the rap song created by senior school pupils from Haringey, which has been recorded onto a DVD with the help of creative and media specialists. Clasroom Resources role has been to work with teachers to create PSHE and curriculum materials to spread the message about better travel for use in schools, with the resources 'officially launched' this May 2011, ad provided to Haringey schools.

Victoria Cross Heroes Website

01 November 2007

Following Classroom Resources successful production of The Victoria Cross Heroes Educational Resource we have now been asked to put forward proposals to make the associated VC website more pupil friendly.

The Educational Resource which was delivered with a free DVD to all secondary schools in the UK in July has been universally well received by all institutions. Focusing on History and English we have now been asked to develop these themes in an interactive way at www.victoriacrossheroes.com.

Suggestions have also been made to also expand the curriculum links to PSHE and Drama, as well as develop a number of ready to use PowerPoint resources for assemblies at both primary and secondary level.

Victoria Cross Heroes

Victoria Cross Heroes

19 March 2007

Classroom Resources as a leading educational publishing company has been commissioned to research and produce a resource on Victoria Cross Heroes which will be sent for free to all secondary schools in the UK with a DVD, produced by and recently shown on Channel Five.

With an introduction from His Royal Highness Prince Charles the DVD portrays many of the heroic acts of soldiers, sailors and airmen, that have resulted in the presentation of the highest military award, the Victoria Cross.

Classroom Resources are producing the accompanying work pack for teachers and schools that will enable the resource to fit into History and English curriculum areas as well as Personal and Social Education.

Classroom Resources Managing Director John Hickey said that researching the Victoria Cross stories was one of the most fascinating aspects of the work and choosing which VC’s to include in the resource had been a difficult process as each story was unique and worthy of inclusion.

John has previously worked on educational resources to commemorate the D Day Landings for the MOD, and artist and historian Anton Bantock is providing many of the illustrations for the Victoria Cross Heroes educational pack.

As a Classroom Resources author you might fancy accepting a commission from us to write a resource that will be sent out to all schools. If that is the case then please let us know so that we have your details on file when the next project comes along.
