This resource is a series of speaking and writing tasks designed for advanced learners of Spanish. Its aim is to help students of Spanish to express themselves fluently and accurately in the language, both orally and in writing. There are sixteen titles, each consisting of an authentic text, vocabulary list, questions in Spanish and a writing task. The titles are categorised under four general topic areas; youth, health and sport, the world around us and education. The stimulus material used in based on publications from both Spain and South America.

The speaking tasks are based on a set of ten questions, of which the first two relate directly to the text, to ensure a degree of comprehensions. The following two questions give the opportunity for students to express their thoughts on the topic in question. The remaining questions are designed so that the conversation moves away into other related areas as naturally as possible. There will inevitably be some overlap and repetition of questions across certain topic areas; however, it must be stressed that questions are provided as a guideline only and it is envisaged that teachers will introduce an element of spontaneity in the course of the conversations.

For the writing tasks, students should aim to produce letters/accounts of at least 200 words, using the correct form of address where appropriate.
